Two PhD positions in Organic Chemistry/Organic Synthesis are available in the Group of Asymmetric Synthesis, Department of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. The positions are open to motivated researchers at the early stages of their careers who wish to push limits in current organic synthesis and catalysis research.
Research topics for the thesis:
I. Development of new enantioselective reactions based on catalysis using N-heterocyclic carbenes
II. Development of new catalytic platforms for enantioselective transformations based on zeolitic architectures
Requirements: M.Sc. degree in organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry or related fields to be finished within 2023, experience with synthesis and characterization of small molecules, strong interest in organic synthesis and catalysis, open to learning new techniques and working in a team, good knowledge of English.
Offers: a fully-funded PhD position (4 years) starting from March 2024 or earlier (adequate to cover all living costs in Prague), a pleasant and inspiring working environment, and attendance of national or international scientific conferences.
